Weight Loss: Some Useful Tips

December 1st, 2008 | admin | Informative Articles

We live in a time where, if we wish to lose weight or keep it off, our lives tend to be governed by a plethora of diet plans, pills, drinks, etc. Different people have different concepts of ‘slim’; therefore, their idea of what is healthy and what is not also varies.

Not everybody needs to lose weight, but for those who do, it is often an uphill battle.  A majority of the time, what makes the most amount of impact on a weight loss program is the person’s attitude. Are they really committed to losing weight? Do they want to lose weight permanently?

To lose weight and burn the fat, you don’t necessarily have to spend long hours at the gym or starve yourself. Permanent weight loss requires you to lead a positive life, not for a month or a year, but for life. You need to change the way you behave if you are going to be able to achieve permanent weight loss. If you don’t, you’ll carry on in the same old way hopping from diet to diet and never lose weight permanently. To make effective change, you have to learn new habits.

Listed below are few tips that can help you get started.

Eat two pieces of fruit as part of every meal. The fruit helps with filling your stomach and reduces your overall calorie intake.

A large number of people swear by the water drinking technique. If you can manage to drink 8 to 10 glasses (2 to 3 liters) of water a day, it would constitute a being a slim habit. Intake of water helps to keep hunger at bay. It also helps flushing out toxins from the body, and aids in digestion.

Snack at regular intervals (close to every four hours). As long as you can manage to keep away the hunger pangs, you have a good thing going.

Never skip breakfast. Not eating breakfast increases the chances of overeating during the day.

Never skip any other meal during the day either. While you might think that skipping meals helps losing weight, reconsider. Missing a meal is increasing the body’s hunger. The meal that is eaten next gets converted to fat.

Exercise! Never underestimate the power of exercising. No physical activity will result in no weight loss.
